Our Story
Hi, I’m Nick. I’m a fifth grade teacher in Western Washington, who has fallen in love with woodworking . With every piece we make, we aspire to showcase the natural beauty of the wood, free of stains or dyes.
The “6:8” of Six Eight Woodworks refers to the verse, Micah 6:8. The verse reads, “Seek justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God.” This is the call my wife and I have on our lives, which led us to foster and adopt our two eldest boys. We are passionate about the needs of all impacted by foster care and orphan care/adoption. For every sale we donate a portion to foster care and orphan care ministries. Seeking justice also involves racial justice. We are strong advocates for our boys’ racial identity. We are not colorblind. We celebrate their beautiful black skin and recognize the existence of systemic racism and implicit biases that negatively impact people of color. We continue to educate ourselves and advocate for our boys and all who have beautiful brown and black skin. A portion of every sale is donated to the Equal Justice Initiative and their work with racial justice.
